April is National Minority Cancer Awareness Month
The Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Minority Health designates April as a time to raise awareness about health disparities that affect racial and ethnic minority populations. People are encouraged to take action through health education, early detection and control of disease complications. The 2022 theme is Give Your Community a Boost! because of the continued importance of COVID-19 vaccination including boosters. COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted racial and ethnic minority communities, which underscores the need for these communities to get vaccinated.
