I had used 6mp (chemotherapy) for ulcerative colitis 2009-2014. Had mu colon removed March 2017. Soon after I started using 6mp, is when all these symptoms began. Urinary Tract Infections on a monthly basis, low white blood cell counts, low red blood cell counts, low blood count in general. Had a bone marrow biopsy done February 2017. That is when I found out I have MDS. Any relation to using 6mp possibly? Just curious.

I also was prescribed 6mp for Chrons disease. For five years I took the drug and then found out I had MDS. In searching the internet for drug side effects I found out that 6mp is never recommended for bowel problems and that a result from its use is MDS and other forms of leukemia. Now I’m stuck with chemo for a year and no long term cure.

Thank you for responding. You are right 6mp should have never been prescribed.
