My haematologist told me about 4 months ago I had low risk MDS. He said no action/treatment necessary and we do another blood test in 3 months. That has 3 months since passed and fresh blood tests revealed no substantial changes from the last readings, in fact a very slightly better reading, he said. Doctor me he will review again in another 3 months. That was last week. I since asked for copy of the bone marrow laboratory/scientific report which I had not seen before, it just arrived my email, which has caused me to post this message on this forum.
I read two interesting conclusions from the laboratory reports, (as below) I seek any comments about what your reading/experience may reveal from what you read below, as I am confused in the Doctor’s diagnosis of low risk MDS in view of (2) below…, although I guess I am or maybe heading in that direction. But seems that for Doctor to state I have low risk MDS in light of laboratory conclusions, seems questionable. Does anyone tend to agree with me or am I getting this wrong? The main issue I have is that the scientific laboratory conclusion which states below under (2) as follows:
quote: “however, insufficient to diagnose an early myelodysplastic syndrome” unquote:
1)
Blood examination: (Conclusion)
There is moderate thrombocytopenia
2)
Bone Marrow examination (Conclusion)
There are no diagnostic features present on this marrow sample. There are mild dysplastic changes, however, insufficient to diagnose an early myelodysplastic syndrome. Please correlate with flow cytometry and cytogenetics reports, which are reported separately.
I wish to thank anyone in advance who puts in their time to respond.
