For any of you that are on Vidaza, how many cycles did your count keep going down? Also, when did it start climbing (if it worked). I will be starting my 4th cycle in two weeks and so far counts have just been knocked down and have had lots of xfusions. They did go up one week in my 2nd cycle. I got so excited but they went back down again in 4-5 days.
I’m hoping and praying this will work because I have no other option if it doesn’t. Well, OHSU did say that I might could have a mini-stem cell transplant. I told them I absolutely didn’t want to talk about that because I almost died from the stem cell transplant I had in ’99 and my body isn’t as strong as it was then.

my dad’s counts go down every cycle and start to rebound about 1 week before his next cycle – that is why the doctor has decided to lower the dosage and spread the time between treatments

    Dear Diner,
My mom tried Vidaza for her MDS. After about a month, her blood counts went up. Everything was fine for about 3 months. Then the Vidaza stopped working. The doctor took her off of it. Apparently Vidaza works only for a small percentage of people. Of course, if one is in the “small percentage,” there are great benefits. ‘Hope this helps you!
    Best of luck,
    Janet
