Hbg “normal” is minimum 12.2. Some labs have “normal” at 11.4. It just depends on the lab processing your blood test. So yes 10 is low, no matter what.

Simone… only God knows where you are in your progression and when He wants you home. However, if your business is something you do at home and online, why not! Explain to your patrons there may be delays in your production and/or distribution. Let them know your diagnosis and reason you choose to work. People will understand.

Hey Len…..did you have any luck with the wheatgrass lowering you ferritin levels? I started, with approval, taking three capsules of wheatgrass each morning. The first month it appeared that it brought it down by 230 points. Just wondered if you have any betterluck with drinking the wheatgrass?

Len, would taking the capsules be just as good?

    Mary, you are most welcome.
I’ve been dealing with diagnosis since July 2019. They gave me 1 yr 6 months to live. I’m still fighting. I take Vidaza for 7 days every 4 weeks and Aranesp injection every 3 weeks. In between, I’m getting labs, see the doctor, then right before it’s time for Vidaza again, I end up getting 2 units of blood. Then it starts all over again. I’m hoping, and by the Grace of God, I’m here longer than a year and half. Already past a year, so we will see.

Mary, every time I have low Hemoglobin, hematocrit and red blood cells my heart will pound so loud that I have a hard time hearing anything else.
I’m usually very fatigued and short of breath at that point as well. I know by all those symptoms that it’s time for a blood transfusion. I’ll go to office for labs and end up going to hospital for two units of blood.
So please let your doctor know of your symptoms. I too, will answer any of your questions, if I know the answers.

They were giving me decadron(steroid) and two nausea meds before I start with my Vidaza injections. I was so very sick that first time. Also went from diarrhea to severe constipation due to all the nausea meds. Zofran and Compazine, both nausea meds prescriptions, for at home nausea and vomiting.
After two weeks of the Vidaza shots, I refused to take them ever again. So I now have a port now and receive the Vidaza IV and all the other meds. One stick and everything is infused there in my port.
Please ask your nurse for something for nausea. Tell them your symptoms. They are there to not only give you chemo, but monitor your symptoms to share with your physician.

Thank you for your reply, it has given me hope! I’m currently on my eight round of Vidaza (azacitidine) every month for 7 days, and Aranesp injection every three weeks. I was told last that I could continue the rounds but as of right now the treatment was not helping. I continue to have blood transfusions as well about every 4-6 weeks. It really takes up you time during the day. I just don’t know how long this can go on, before nothing is working?
