Richard Mercaldi's Story

Richard A. Mercaldi, Sr., 79, of Bronx, New York passed away peacefully on January 2nd, 2022 after bravely fighting Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) with courage and grace. Richard was diagnosed in October of 2020 and initially thought to have a six month life expectancy. Despite the diagnosis, Richard was a fighter and went through multiple rounds of chemotherapy, blood transfusion and platelet injections in attempt to beat the odds and help science by uncovering the mysteries of this rare disease. We hope to preserve his memory as a fighter and raise awareness about MDS.
