Robert's Story

Robert Anderson was born on March 18, 1953, in Poteau, OK. He was diagnosed with MDS in December 2022, and it progressed very quickly. He passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in Coyle, OK.

Robert was a fun-loving, happy person who brought joy to the lives of those around him. He was a prankster and an all-around goofball; it was incredibly easy to get him in on a joke or scheme if he wasn’t already the mastermind.

Robert was married to his wife, Carolyn, for 44 years before his passing. They share two daughters, Melissa and Heather, three granddaughters, Amber, Mickayla, and Macie, and a great-granddaughter, Grace. Robert was known as “Papa” or “Pops” for the last 31 years of his life, and he took that role very seriously.

Robert is dearly missed by his entire family. His absence is noticeable every day. His family has been walking with Relay for Life for over a decade and will continue to walk in his honor every year.
