Timothy (Tim)'s Story

Timothy “Tim” McHugh, born on December 8, 1965, in Danvers, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on July 21, 2023, at Massachusetts General Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. A lifelong Middleton resident, Tim was able to fulfill his dream of residing on Lake Winnipesaukee at Lake Shore Park in Gilford, NH. A beloved father, brother, and friend, Tim’s life was marked by his unwavering devotion to his family.

Tim was the son of the late James McHugh and Arlene “Skippy” (Gendreau) McHugh, and step-son of the late Dolores (McHugh) McHugh. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter, Courtney and son, Timothy Jr. Tim is also survived by his sister, Sharon McHugh-Stockwell, and brothers Christopher and Shaun. He was predeceased by his brother, Matthew. He is also survived by his beloved dog Bella and his former spouse Diane (Giffune) McHugh.

A 1984 graduate of Masconomet Regional High School, Tim was a steadfast and dedicated employee at Market Basket for over 40 years. His colleagues remember him for his strong work ethic, his camaraderie, and his unfailing sense of humor. Tim’s influence was deeply felt within the company and he left a lasting impact on those he worked with.

Tim was a man of many interests and passions. He was an avid boater, snowmobiler and jet skier, always looking for the next adventure and always ready to share it with those he loved. His love of these sports was infectious, inspiring others to join in and experience the thrill of the ride. As a lifelong hockey fan, Tim’s dedication to his son TJ’s teams was unwavering. He was known to never miss a game and his enthusiasm was a source of joy and pride for him and those around him.

Tim was known for his warm and engaging personality. His kindness and generosity touched the lives of many, and he was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a comforting word. No matter where he went, he always seemed to know someone. He will be dearly missed by all.

He was a dedicated father, always there for his children, Courtney and TJ. His love for them was evident in every aspect of his life. He was their biggest cheerleader, constantly encouraging them to pursue their dreams and supporting them every step of the way. His love, guidance, and unwavering support will forever be remembered and cherished by his children.

In the face of adversity, Tim demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience. His fight against cancer was a testament to his unwavering spirit and determination. Despite his illness, he continued to live life to the fullest, never losing his sense of humor or his love for adventure. His courage and positivity were an inspiration to all who knew him.

In his passing, we remember Tim not only for his accomplishments but for the man he was. His love for life, his dedication to his family, and his passion for his interests defined his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong memories. As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a life that touched so many, a life that will continue to inspire. Tim will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
