Sunday, Bob is home His counts held Last transfusion was Friday Before 7 PM. His Hgb was 9.6, then 9.8 and then This Am 10.4 (They were doing Hgb and Hct every 6 hours). The bleeding has seemed to slow or stop just like His Subdural Brain bleed beginning of June. They are going to do the Radiation on the spleen outpatient. We go Tuesday Morning for another CBC and his procrit at the Drs office. We just have to watch him and if all stays as is then ok if not have to call and go back to Hospital He is happy to Be home to finally get some sleep, His arms are like pin cushions from all of the blood test and the IV’s they missed a few times so he is running out of veins. I am getting a little rest as well. I think the Lord has answered my prayers.
Bob is a stubborn man but a fighter. It was difficult convincing him to go to the emergency room Last tues night but I think he finally realized how terrible he felt. Got to say he never loses his appetite through any of this. There are so many hurdles to get over with this disease and Bob’s plts are a real problem for him, I hope reducing the spleen will help. Not sure what his schedule for Vidaza will be However his whites are down from 77 to 25. I guess his body has been trying to tell us something.
Thank you all for the support. I pray for each and everyone one of you. This disease is so hard I get tired and frustrated and I can’t even imagine how it is for Bob and the rest of the patients on this forum that actually have the disease. You all are so Brave and strong.

Terri, Bob has my prayers and you also. I know that it is often harder on the caregiver with what my wife goes through. May your faith sustain and comfort you during these trials.

    Terri,

Thank you for updating us. I am so glad to hear Bob is home and doing better. The one day mom spent at the hospital she said she’d never go back. It’s so hard to be there. I wish I had a magic bullet for those platelets. Since I know you’re doing natural stuff too, I’ll share with you what mom is taking for them. She’s eating Mung Beans (you cook them just like regular beans (soak/cook) and she says they taste really good. And she’s also eating 6-10 jujubees a day. Not the candy! smile They are a RED pitted date. No sugar added. She says they’re good also. Both the mung beans and jujubees are supposed to help increase platelet production (although the spleen might still eat them) and the mung beans are also a natural chelator.

Take care of yourself and Bob and I’ll keep praying for you.

    All the best,

    Patti

Tomorrow is the key, Hope his CBC is still holding, So far it seems like it, He is getting more rest now that he is home. We will contact the Radiation specialist for his first appt they will cat scan and mark the area of the spleen then bring him back for the first dose. Its usually 2-3 doses a week and works rather quickly. We get one bleed under control and another starts, Have no idea where the next area of bleeding could be so they have to do something to get the plts up.
I thank all on this forum for the support and prayers. Also I hope by posting our experiences others will learn from it. Did I mention Bob’s potassium levels were down and they now have him on Potassium supplements.

    Terri,

Glad he is home now and will keep praying. My Dad has been in the hospital for over 30 days now. We can’t wait to get him home. But he is hanging in there and never complains. The information you and other provide on here is so helpful to me. Thank you for sharing.

    Terri…
Please let me know how the radiation goes.
I also have a very enlarged spleen which causes me great pain sometimes…..the second largest spleen my doctor has ever seen
(19 cm)…BUT…he has refused me radiation treatments.
I’d love to shove someone’s experience under his nose!!
