Hey… all of your thoughts & prayers must have worked!!!!
Yesterday morning I would have never thought things would have gone as well as they have so far… I think the doctor’s are even amazed. The night before they pumped him up w/ platelets & something to boost his immune system, but in the morning he was running a fever, the pain had increased & the fluid in his drain had changed colors… It was very apparent that the surgery (colostomy) was not only necessary, but also critical. His pulmonologist was sure he would be on the ventilator for a while after the surgery due to his lung condition, but he came right off of it and breathed on his own!!!!! Everything went smoothly! Whew… Now he is in ICU and will be there for another day at least. The doctor said that he is not out of the woods yet and that the next three days are most critical. I think my dad feels a renewed sense of strength since he cleared that first major hurdle… I don’t think he felt he was going to make it….But he sure did!! I am cautiously optimistic, but optimistic none the less!!! Just taking it one day at a time.
I can’t thank you all enough for your concern, encouragement, care, support, prayers, etc., etc..
Hugs to all,
Kathryn
