    Butch,

Please keep us all posted. Praying that the BMB gives you all a clearer view of what’s going on.

She was at 7,000 and after the platelets went to 51,000. That was a good bag! They did the bmb and will have some results on Friday. They don’t sound as optimistic today as they did Monday. They are going to go ahead and get her sister tested to see if she is a match in case we need it. They even mentioned today that it could be MDS or AA. We will see…….

    Hi Butch,

Haven’t looked at the board for ages then see this!

I’m so sorry, none of you deserve this. I hope it’s something easily treatable.

    Take care,
    Don

Today’s visit brings the bad news. They say it is severe aplastic anemia. They want to do a transplant ASAP. On Tuesday we will get the ball rolling and get her younger sister tested and go from there…….

    Butch,

I am so sorry to hear the news. I don’t know much about AA but I hope that it’s treatable. She’s so young.

I’m here if you need me.

Butch, This is not really fair. Will pray for both of you. Ashley is lucky to have you.

Ashley has a sister Casey. She is 16. They are typing her today but they said they may not use her even if a match due to both Kelly and Ashley having issues. There is no telling if Casey is at risk at this point. She is at Roswell now, we’ll know more later……

They “typed” Casey today. We’ll have the results Friday if she is a match. They are also doing a preliminary search for an unrelated donor as well. Platelets were at 30,000 today so no transfusions. Ashley is also meeting with someone that specializes in natural medicine as well this week.

    Butch,

Make sure that whomever Ashley is talking to about natural medicine is a specialist in dealing with cancer patients specifically. I am finding that “general practice” or “family practice” naturapaths do not have enough experience with disease to understand how to treat it. Family practice ND’s generally treat children and families for regular day to day illnesses and really lack the expertise needed for cancer treatments. Even if they don’t know what AA is, a cancer specialist knows where to go to find the right answers. Hang in there.

Ashley is at Roswell now. Her younger sister is not a match. They do however have 3 young girls tested recently. They are all a 10 out of 10 match according to my father in law who is there. They have to be tracked down and checked a little further to pick the best one. It will take another 4 – 6 weeks. But at least it looks good at this point.

Ashley is getting red blood and platelet transfusions today as her counts tanked…….

    Hi Butch,

Just thinking about Ashley…sorry about her counts. Sure hope she’s feeling better after her transfusions. Hey, sounds encouraging with 3 girls with a 10 out of 10 match. Thanks for the update. Sending positive vibes..

    Jody
