For anyone who was diagnosed very young with MDS– in their 50’s or younger– do you have parents with autoimmune disorders? One of my parents has Sjogren’s syndrome and the other had rheumatoid arthritis.

Not me. I’m 58, diagnosed at 55. Mom has a low WBC but just above the line.

I have heard in one of the webinars I listened to from one of the top hematologists in California that there was a study done on MDS and autoimmune diseases and what they determined was that there was a correlation between arthritis and MDS but they are not sure if the MDS came before the arthritis or the arthritis came before the MDS.
