Joann: to my knowledge, there is no remission with MDS. There are no cures for MDS. There are various treatments for the disease that can prolong life. If your husband has a Stem Cell Transplant, and it is successful, he can live with someone else’s bone marrow.

There is plenty of info on this site about MDS. You can even request that the foundation send you information.

Has his Dr discussed a stem cell transplant with him?

Yes, they do not think he could go through a sct, due to age and underlying
    conditions.
So no new promising treatments either?!

Joann: Mds-foundation.org has news on recent drug releases. Check the home page. There was one a few days ago. What is his oncologist saying?
