Husband is a 12 year kidney transplant patient who developed anemia and has been treated with Aranesp for the past 2 years with occasional blood transfusions. Illness has developed into MDS and he was treated with one series of Reblozyl which caused extreme fatigue. He feels great with a blood transfusion but those cannot continue forever.
Looking for some information from those of you who are currently being treated with Reblozyl and your reaction to the drug. How long did you take it, what were the side effects short term and long term. Were the side effects always the same or did they decrease or increase with time.

My first time on this site but find it very informative.

    THanks for any information provided.

Hi Pat, I’m sorry you had to wait so long for a reply. I have been taking Reblozyl/Luspatercept for 2 years this upcoming August. The only side effect that I deal with is fatigue on the day I get my injection. No other side effects thankfully. Once on Luspatercept it worked well and my HB level increased to 10.1 on a few occassions otherwise it fluctuated between 9.8 and 10. For the past 9 weeks though it has been in decline (8.8 as of 1.5 weeks ago) and since I’m at the maximum dosage it cannot be increased. My local hemoc says we’ll wait till next appt in 1.5 weeks and if it continues in the wrong direction he will recommend going back to Moffit to see my primary doctor to discuss next steps. I don’t know how helpful this is for you but it’s my situation today.
