MemberI’m starting the second round of Zarnestra today
(21 days). During the two week off period my whites increased by 5, still a net loss 17 so I can’t complain, they are now at 26.3. Platelets are stable around 72k and reds have stayed normal. The Doc is pleased so far. So far there has been no down side to this drug, I get a BMB after this round.
This probably seems wierd to those of you fighting to increase your WBC. I look at it as having this large army in my body who have no one to battle so they will attack the innocent, I guess I have my own band of insurgents, I don’t know if my body is awreck or Irag.
That is a joke, please no political dialogue.

MemberI finish my second phase on the Zarnestra trial this Thursday. My whites are now at 17, down from 43. Platelets are stable at 72 and reds are normal. It is a relief to get the whites down. I get a BMB on 11/7 then start the third phase.

MemberJack,
We’re hoping and praying that it keeps getting better for you. Wonder if it could have helped my count before it zipped up to 385? That is 385K not 3.85 close enough to norm. That is what is known as an extreme leukemic event and I don’t ever want to go anywhere near that again.

MemberFinished my 2nd 21 day phase of Zarnestra, my whites have dropped to 15k from 43k two months ago, the platelets are at 77 which is stable, the Reds have remained normal. They thought all my counts would decrease with this drug, but only the whites have, my monos have gone from 7.5 to 1.95. Isn’t it fun to live from blood test to blood test.

MemberI’m just starting my 3rd 21 cycle of Zarnestra. After being off it for 14 days my white increased to 20(to be expected). Platelets are stable at 83k, reds as always are normal. My BMB showed blast reduction of 2.8 to 2.0 in the marrow and 1.0 to zero in the blood. My concern is the Hypercellular activity of 98%. The drug seems to be keeping the beast at bay for now, time will tell.

MemberJack,
How are you feeling during the treatment?

MemberChuck,
I feel great, I have had no side effects. I walk 4 miles a day, every day. I get tired once in a while during the day and have to rest, but then bounce right back.

MemberI just received my BMB results after phase four of Zarnestra. I show no blasts in the marrow or blood, cellular activity at 95% from 98%. I was concerned that they would stop the trial because my whites have not decreased any more, they go back and forth from 22 to 27, I have had a bad cold with mild fever so that could account for it, my differential is pretty good, numbers are high but percentages good. I will have another BM in 45 days. Like all of these drugs it is temporary so time will tell.

MemberOh Jack that is great news. I hope your fever gets better soon though.
My dad is supposed to start this soon, but it is taking awhile I guess to get all the paperwork done. I hope they hurry, so maybe it would help him. He seems to be really struggling right now.

MemberKWJ,
My fever is gone, I just walked 3.5 miles, the temp is 2 degrees. This illness will eventually take me but I will go out doing what I like to do.

This drug seems very promising. Especially in the area of toxicity and side effects. Hope it continues working for you for a long time.
