How wonderful that your dad was so loved. Sometimes, all our loved ones need to hear when it is time is, it’s ok to let go. Very special that you were the one who whispered those words to him. I’m sure he will be missed.

Hi Kathy, My dad is going through similar feelings, he’s only 66. He lost his partner (my mom) in August. This Christmas was unbearable for him, he had a very hard time. He suffered a major heart attack just before Mom passed away, she spent every day at the hospital caring for him, I think she was a bit relieved that the focus was off of her. They were quite a team. There are no words to take the pain away, all I can say is be there, I’ve told my Dad that Mom would not be happy if she knew he was giving up, she would want him to go on and live each day to it’s fullest. It’s not easy. One day at a time.
    All the best,
    Donna

Hi Pam, I agree, I’m relatively new to this forum. Found out about it a bit too late. My mom passed Aug 1st 2004. We suspect she had already progressed to AML by the time I found this forum, she was 62. I only wish I had found it sooner, I can’t even remember how I stumbled upon it. Needless to say, the information and support I found here is beyond incredible. Mom would’ve loved to be a part of it — to relate to people who are experiencing some of the same things would’ve been very comforting to her.
I read the posts everyday, and still feel a part of the sorrow and the hope.

I’m so sorry for your loss Lisa. Find comfort in knowing your dad is free from the pain now, he is at peace.
