I know your husband has had good results we had two rounds sofar and we will see the results on Monday. I always get scared when I see his counts, never know what to expect. What part of Germany are you from and where does your Dad go for his treatments. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberDear Sylvia,
I am also from Germany but have lived in the US since age 10, I am know 65 and go back regularly.
My husband Kornel from Kassel was DX in Jan. 06 with MDS he is 69 as of April, in May he advanced to AML and received chemo which put him in remission. He is now on Vidaza as a consolidary treatment for the next months or as lond as it keeps him in remission, he gets it 7 days on and 21 days off. His counts fall some and he is tired other than that he is doing fine. If your Dad wants to speak with my husband or if you would like to speak with me we can get in touch, we both speak German. Our phone is 299-543-8676 and we usually home. GloriaEngelMemberHI Sandy,
My husband is doing o.k. he is weak and gets a little discouraged, but thats the disease. We go to the clinic on Monday and they will do a complete BC so we will know more then. He has had a fever after his second round of Vidaza but the antibiotics took care of it. He is tired a lot more this time. Blessings. GloriaHusband/Kornel/69 1/06 dx MDS. 5/6AML. after chemo
complete remission. Vidaza since July 06. doing well.EngelMemberSandy,
How is Mike doing? My husband Kornel was dx in jan.06 and AML in June, he is in remission and taking Vidaza, has his good and bad days.
GloriaEngelMemberHi Dennis,

GloriaEngelMemberSusan.
We are so sorry for your loss of Patrick. We will keep you in our prayers, Patrick is in a better place and remember always we will all have to go there, he just got there first and has a better seat. Love and Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberTerri,
You asked how my husband got into remission. His MDS turned to AML and he spend 5 weeks in the hospital on chemo ara-C, had a heart attack and slight stroke, but all worked out well. He is now on Vidaza for his consolidation rounds and although his counts go down some they still stay normal. The reason for the Vidaza is so that all will stay well and AML will not come back. Our prayers are with you and Bob, have faith all will turn out well. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberPatti,
We will keep your MIL and your whole family in our prayers. When my husband had the line put in he developed an infection and a blood clot it was a very difficult time for us both, all is well now but he is still on coumidin and that is not good. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberTerri,
We are praying for you and Bob, will be at church tomorrow and light a candle as well. Only a month ago I thought I would lose my husband after his MDS became AML and we the doctors help and God watching over us all turned around and my husband is in remission. We pray the same will happen to Bob and to all the great people on this forum.
GloriaEngelMemberBritt,
Maybe I can shed a little light on this. My husband dx in Jan.06 MDS, in May a routine blood test showed blasts. They did a BMB and discovered that he had 69% blasts and he now had AML. He did chemo ara-C after first treatment, complete remission. He is doing Vidaza now for his consolidation and is doing well, all his counts are within normal range, his counts went down very little during his Vidaza treatment. We will keep Patrick in our prayers, there is so much hope out there, never give up. Hope this will help. Neil is the best sorce of information out there and Suzanne has been very helpful to me. Blessings, GloriaEngelMemberSusan & Sheri,
My husband had his first round of Vidaza and he is doing great, his counts never even dropped during his treatment, we hope to continue it for at least 6 rounds. Good luck to all of you, I quess we each must decide after during our research what is the best option for our loved ones. GloriaEngelMemberNeil,
You seem to be the most knowledgable person on this board. My husband was dx Jan.2006 with MDS and it quickly turned to AML in May he had chemo ara-C and complete remission. He is taking Vidaza for consolidation for a few months, 7 days on and 21 days off. My question is, our doctor told us good news no more AML and all chromosones are normal, but you need to be treated for MDS again his counts are pretty good and Vidaza did not take them down much. He is to old for a BMT what other options does he have? Thanks for being there for so many of us, we appreciate all you have to tell us, I check this board at least once a day. Thanks, GloriaEngelMemberHi Dennis,
My husband just finished his first 7 days of Vidaza and his counts did not drop, he is now 21 days off and then again. His BMB showed he is now cancer free after his MDS turned to AML and he had 1 Unit of ara-C and went into complete remission. The Vidaza is to keep him there.
