TO all who have responded, one fact I did not include.. my mother was not able to speak or make the decision. Of course, we would go with her decision but it was not possible to know her choice. My mother passed away after I left the message…

    Lena,
I would like to talk with you as my Mom was diagnosed at the same age as your mother. THere is too much to put in a message and my mother had multiple conditions along with MDS. My heart goes out to you, it is really tough. Perhaps we can find an option to talk soon.

    Janet,
Thank you for replying, it is somewhat a comfort to hear from you as your loved one has similar health issues. Yes, my mother is also on Lasix and has been referred to a nephrologist in the past.
    Thank you, Marcella

    Stacey,
Thank you for your reply to my post. We did visit UofPA for a second opinion last summer, I need to confirm but after looking at Dr. Luger’s website I believe we saw her in Philadelphia. She did a complete workup, recommended bone marrow biopsy. B12 level were high normal in late 2018. In reviewing her health portal lab work, I do not see any reticulocyte count. May I ask the significance of this number? I am trying to understand the value of a bone marrow biopsy.
