    Hi all:

My mom had her apt with her hematologist today, he said he was encouraged, BMB showed no change andshe has been holding her counts WBC 500 Hgb 10.5 and Plts 260,000. He increased her Vidaza to 100mg and gave her a shot of Procrit.

I just heard from my dad that she has a fever of 101 and is on the way to the hospital. Ideas?

    Thanks so much Andrea

    Andrea,

My dad had a 100 degree fever the other day but it went down. He’s at his lowest point after the Vidaza. They gave him two units of blood and some platelets. They didn’t have to hospitalize him. Just took some blood and urine for cultures.

Hope your mom is doing well.

Bob’s temp has been fine so far and He gets his Procrit weekly even with The Vidaza. There are so many differences amoung patients, doctors and procedures everyone reacts differently to the med.
I know they are usuing the same dosage that he was getting when the drug was still in trials and It is basically the dosage that was initially shown on Pharmions website about Vidaza.

Your Mom’s counts seem good, Wish we could get Bob’s plts at least over 100. I wish her well.
    Continued prayers

    Thank you all!

Last evening my mom was admitted to the hospital on IV antibiotics. She might have to stay over the weekend, they drew blood cultures. They don’t think it is related to the BMB or the Vidaza. She might have a sinus infection. Will she have to go into the hospital for IV antibiotics every time? It seems if this is so, we won’t be able to visit her and her grandchildren really won’t be able to visit her. She has 10 grandchildren.

Her temp goes down with Tylenol. I’ll talk to the Doctor tomorrow. Thank you for all your input. It means so much to me!!!

    Andrea
