October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Throughout October, organizations around the world unite to raise awareness about breast cancer. Advances in treatments are offering cures for early-stage diagnoses, as well as helping people with advanced breast cancer live longer and more comfortably. Early detection is a key factor that can lead to more successful outcomes. Women are encouraged to do breast self-exams and have regularly scheduled mammograms. Men can get breast cancer, too, making it crucial they are aware of their risk factors and report any breast changes to their doctor.
