Not sure if you guys remember me. My Dad was the one in Australia who was diagnosed with RAEB 1 in May of last year and it progressed to AML earlier this year.He was also neutropenic which made him suseptible to infection. Well I am back from Australia as now our fight is over.
Dad was in hospital after having a lung infection (some of you may remember his lung infection/clot problems) and they were getting him to the stage to start chemo. Well he got there and the chemo worked and according to the doctors he was on the way to remission. Then he contracted an E-Coli infection 3 days later, they put him into a drug induced coma and that is when I got the call to come home. I arrived on the Monday, his major organs had begun to shut down and we were told that by the end of the week if his body didn’t start fighting back we would have to make a decision. He continued to deteriorate and Friday they shut off the machines and we watched him slip away. That was Good Friday…not.
I hope that all of you that remain here keep up the fight. How inronic was it that the neutropenia claimed him before AML.
    Love to you all

I remember you and the fight your dad had with this awful disease. I am so sorry about his passing. You need to know he’s got to be in a better place now.

My prayers are with you and your family. Jack is right, your father is in a better place.
It’s exactly 8 months since my mother died, I miss her, but in my heart I know that she is a happier being now.
    Take care of yourselves.
