    I was wondering how I got this disease, and was wondering if others have a family history of it. My father had this some 30 years ago. He died at age 78. They had no Chemo for it then. I am diagnosed with it at age 74,
    I worked in the airline industry and shops for over 40 years and have had very continuous contact with chemicals used to clean, and lubricate all sorts of vehicles and equipment. My father had some contact with the chemicals as well…

    I found out that my father’s brother had MDS about eight years ago but his family was pretty hush-hush about it. Don’t see anything in common except for a lot of Armenian food. Doc suggested that there may be a genetic predisposition for it. My sister has had anemia and low platelet as well although biopsy showed no MDS. Her condition improved.
