Hi I am writing to see if there is anyone on this site that has contracted MDS through the Camp Lejeune Toxic water exposure during the early 1950’s through to 1987? I personally was born at Camp Lejeune in September 1981 and from my birth I had misshapen platelets which required two blood transfusions. Unbeknownst at the time the toxins in the water supply affected the old hospital on Camp Lejeune along with other areas on Camp Lejeune, New River, Tarawa Terrace, Hadnot point ect. Since then I have had nosebleeds throughout my life, a persistent low platelet count and more recently I was told I had dying tissue in my right femur which is currently diagnosed as a benign bone tumor Enchondroma or bone infarcts. However, my question is what specific testing would anyone recommend to get a diagnosis of any format of MDS so I can try to get stem cell treatment if needed? Recently I have had excessive bruising- which my last platelet CBC was roughly 74k. I have excessive tiredness, easy bruising and frequent infections along with a redness on my face the last 3 years with white under my eyes and I am really trying to figure out where I should start to get the best treatment path possible. Any input from anyone that may have been affected by the Camp Lejeune water would be helpful. Thank you for reading my post!
