Although there was a time I was almost sure I had MDS now most of the doctors are trying to convince me that it is something that looks like MDS but it is called syderoblastique anaemia . Well they say that in my case it is not bad . I have to much iron that is not worked right because of the ringed syderoblasts . At my last check up the iron was lower and mom says it’s a good sign . I want to know if this type of anaemia is reversible . I mean is it possible that iron is decreasing because the syderablasts are fewer? And one more thing . 4 years ago I had a mild anaemia (the cause is unknown)and my treatment was with iron supliments . Could this have caused the number of syderoblasts to grow ???? Thank u very much . Alexa

    Hi Alexa,
Sideroblastic anemia might be a form of MDS, but then again it might not.
Click on the following link for more information. You can also go to a search engine ( I use MSN and Google) for more sites with additional information.

    Hi alexa,
My mom passed away on 1/18/05. The cause of death was a bit of a shock. Malignancy of the bone marrow. Her HGB and platelets would not hold even with TX. Counts were normal in September.
I am doing OK. Counts were very good in January, but slipped a bit in Feb. Still no symptoms and feel reasonably well. Will get a better handle on what is going on when I see my doc on 3/10. It might be time to increase the Procrit dosage and have another BMB.
