I am a 76 yr old woman, diagnosed April 2017 with MDS RAEB 1 with complex cytogenetics, RIPPSS 6.5 very high risk, I had been getting Vidaza since June 2017 7 each 28 day cycle + 2 clinical trial drugs, last 2 bone marrow biopsies had shown I was in remission, I have not had Vidaza now for a month as my white cell count is 0.7 (normal 4.5-11) and ANC is 0.22 (normal is 1.8-7.0) they have me on 3 different antibiotics to prevent infection, I am still taking the clinical drug, I know Vidaza kills off good cells as well as the cancer cells, so they want to put me on a long time between Vidaza treatment so my body has a chance to recuperate. I will have another treatment on Nov 1st of the clinical trial and also a BMB on Nov. 6th so that will tell for sure if cancer cells are growing again, this is so frustrating, my counts the last 2 blood tests just keep coming down. I know there are so many different stages of MDS but this set back is really not good for me, anyone else have any info on this treatment, the Vidaza was doing so good for me until my counts got so low.
