Hi, looking for input on my father’s condition. He’s having trouble eating solids due to difficulty with swallowing. Been drinking milk and Ensure, bananas and milk etc. That causes bathroom problems however. Barely able to keep up daily calorie minimums and he’s already very thin at 140 lbs. He’s 72 and has had latent MDS for years but worsened last 3 months. No transplant but just started round 3 Chemo so we are hopeful that helps things. Many complications and side effects, including Petechiae, enlarged spleen, recent leg infection (although that seems abated), swollen feet. All blood counts very low, with platelets routinely around 7 – 10. Has transfusions and platelets twice a week. Very tired all the time.
But the swallowing baffles me and I’d appreciate any insights.
