MDS and CHF

  My mother 96 years old, has both MDS (dx 2019) and mild CHF (dx 2020). Blood transfusions are needed at more frequent intervals and Retecrit combined with Zarzio every 2 weeks is not making much difference.
  Has anyone experienced this scenario? Are there other injections she could consider? She is seeing an oncologist/hematologist and her cardiologist. Marcella

  My Husband also has that combination MDS (dx 2020) CHF (dx2021). At this point we are told that his hemoglobin is not low enough for Transfusions. They have him on Lasix for the CHF and now his sodium is going low (had been on sodium tablets daily since chemo in 2010) and now they took him off because of the CHF. It seems like everything is heading in the wrong direction. His cardiologist has referred him to a Nephrologist and we are hoping for some answers there. Sorry I can’t help you more with your questions, but I thought I would at least let you know you aren’t alone dealing with that combination.

  Thank you for replying, it is somewhat a comfort to hear from you as your loved one has similar health issues. Yes, my mother is also on Lasix and has been referred to a nephrologist in the past.
