Yesterday was the one year anniversary of Walden’s passing and on the same day son Christopher who has AML since last Nov. went into the ER with some infections and found AML is back with a vengance. On Aug 11, 05 his blood tests were clean, now only one month later he is in bad shape. They have to stablize him and get him in condition to do BMB. Son Tim is the perfect donor and will be brought up from GA at the time his bone marrow is needed for his brother. I think of all my children that were tested Tim was the most perfect match 6 out 6 markers.
Knowing that my husband and son both had the dreaded exposure to Benzene prompts me to speak to a lawyer. Apparently Walden’s dx in Mar 2004 has me still within the timeframe to have someone look into my case. Christopher will be a separate case but the lawyer said it will be interesting that 2 family members who worked in the same work environment at the same time were dx in the same year.
Going to the Leukemia site and seeing all of the connection to Benzene scares me but I do not want to be part of some big class action suit handled by what may be shysters. Trusting my nephew who is a lawyer to advise me, knowing what an honest man he is, I will pray that I am doing the right thing.
I hope God gives me the strength to support my son and his family thru this crisis as He did when Walden was suffering but it is so hard to think about losing my son to the same disease. Marie

You can be assured that there are many of us praying for you, Christopher and his family. At a younger age, he should have a much better chance.
JimSeptember 10, 2005 at 5:00 am #8660AniMemberMarie, This should jusdt NOT happen, who knows why it does, but I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
As Jimbob says, being so much younger your son should have a better chance at beating this horrible disease.

September 12, 2005 at 2:00 pm #8668gemloyearMemberMarie, I’m so sorry to hear about Chris, It must be just devastating for his family. I pray that he will have sucessful treatment.I too believe that chemicals in the workplace are responsible for this disease. Why else would strong otherwise healthy people be coming down with these dreadful diseases. It’s definitely worth looking into. Good luck with your efforts
