at about 7:50 pm on Dec. 30. It was a rough day for him and once we got the right medicine on board for him to relax he quietly passed away. Kathy and I were there (although he waited until I left the room for a few minutes). He died surrounded in love, I hope he felt that; I believe he did.
The doctor was very surprised that he went as quickly as he did. They thought he would live about another week or so. He was always so stoic, I think he was much sicker than we thought.
God rest his soul and he is free from this dreaded disease.
Wishing all of you health and happiness in the new year. I hope we can all live each day as if it were our last.
Peace and God’s blessings,

I am so very sorry you lost your dad. He still lives in you. You are a good daughter. I was with my dad when he died too, and I loved him with all my soul. So I think I understand what you are feeling now. Yes, we should live each day as though it were our last. Please know that I am thinking of you in my heart and mind and accept my deepest sympathy to you and to your family.
Yours in friendship,

I am so sorry – I can feel your pain as I just lost my Dad on Dec 20th. It still doesn’t feel real and it’s going to be a long, hard road moving forward. It is good that they are finally out of the pain this disease causes but I am sure your heart is as heavy as mine missing him.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.Kathy G

January 2, 2006 at 5:39 am #11088EnsneeMemberKaren, I’m sorry your dad is gone, but glad he was peaceful at the end. You know, I have a friend whose mother died when she and her sister had left the room, after days and days of almost continuously sitting by her side. The nurse told them that it happens this way more often than not, as if the person wants to spare the loved ones the pain of being there when he or she goes.
My thoughts are with you all at this sad time.
Please take care, and know that all of us here are with you in spirit.Esme

So sorry to read of your father’s death, yes, it was so sudden, he seemed to have settled in well.
I pray that the Lord holds you and your family in His Light. Be at peace you have done a wonderful job of caring for your father.

January 2, 2006 at 9:35 pm #11092KathrynMemberKaren, I am so sorry for your loss. I know what an emotional rollercoaster ride this has been for you and I am wishing you peace.
I had left the room as well when my father passed away after spending all night & day w/ him. My brother came to the waiting room right after me and he said that nothing had changed and then we got the call to come back.
I know that your father, as well as my own, felt the love that surrounded them. I hope that knowing he is free will bring peace to your heart. May your love & your memories bring you strength.
You and your family are in my prayers.
Best wishes,
Kathryn
