My husband Mike recently completed Induction Chemotherapy followed up by one Consolidation Chemo. He is in complete remission from Secondary Leukemia (AML) transformed from MDS.

The Dr. is now recommending ARA-C Maintenance. One injection a week, plus 4 pills.

Has anyone else experienced this treatment? I guess they start with a mild dose and work up, as blood counts tolerate it.

    Hi Sandy,
My Mom was on ARA-C injections for 7 months(7 days for one week per month). She was on a very low dose. Few side effects–mild to moderate nausea. However, this was usually helped w/ medication.
