So was originally seeing a haematologist for an unrelated matter when he noticed my haemaglobin over the last 18months was quite high. Along with red blood cells and had a low EPO level. He was confident even being jak2 negative that I had pv and wanted to do a bone marrow biopsy. So I agreed. Came back with the MDS with excess blasts 2. They said my blast counts could be higher than the 12% they saw as I had prominent bare nec lei. While this month has been going my haemaglobin, iron, ferritin have all dropped massively. I was actually having a iron saturation issue 4 weeks ago. So I guess if this has happened so fast is this what a rapid progression looks like? Can someone really go from having PV to mds? I have to wait another week to see the haematologist.

    Cherie,
I would go for second opinion pronto and see if both have same diagnosis. Go to someone /someplace that specializes in MDS.
