He got admitted this morning. Don’t know much more but I’ll be in Buffalo (for fun because mom’s surgery was rescheduled) from Friday through Monday.

Sigh… I really hate this disease.

    Love,
    Carrie

    Update:

Dad hasn’t spiked a fever since he got there and his highest temp was 100.4. Not too bad…

They took blood cultures and will want to keep him until they come back so he’ll probably be there for a few days.

He’s getting scared but I think he’s going to get through this just fine. I’ve been reading a bit on c. diff and VRE (he has both) and it’s kind of scary.

    I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for the prayers and for reading my neurotic postings wink .

Hi Carrie, What is VRE? I was in the hospital for Cdiff for 4 days with IV antibiotics (flagel) and then now for 9 more days on oral Flagel. I guess it can get nasty but they told me that after my chemo since chemo hits the stomach, mouth and hair hardest that it was not unusual for me to get it. I hope your father feels better very quickly

    Doreen,

VRE is vancomycin-resistant longwordbacteria smile . It’s a common infection that people catch in the hospital but it can be bad if it spreads to organs and the blood stream. Dad’s is contained right now (I think).

Dad’s c.diff is causing him a lot of discomfort. He’s not even concerned about the fever because he’s always running to the bathroom frown . I feel so bad for him!

BruceL… My weekend will be a little crazy but I’ll call you to see when you’re free smile .

    Thanks for listening,
    carrie
