Hi everyone, Charlie just got out of hospital after 4 day stay. Had to take him to ER on Saturday. Dr said it was diverticulitis. The pain was severe. They put him on antibotics by IV for 3 full days, then sent us home today with prescription for pill forms of antibotics. They say after having spleen removed 10 days ago, his immune system is low, and this is probally why he got diverticulitis. Anyone else had this before? We are glad to be home. Charlie has lost 14 lbs since surgery, 10 days ago. I am so very concerned how weak he is.

Sarah, I believe Barbra’s husband, Ron, had diverticulitus during chemo.

Sarah, We both have diverticula,we haven’t had any serious infections from them. Dx 10 yrs. ago, so far have been lucky and I’m aware of the symptoms.Glen has just had a bad bout of colitis, and lost a lot of weight.Between the two of us we need to be careful with our diets.
Type diverticulis into the address bar for a search, there’s a lot of good info. on several sites. I got info from WebMD@aolHealth. I hope Charlie starts feeling better soon.
    Take care, Ellie

Sarah, my father had diverticulitis. His went undiagnosed and he developed an abcess. I am so glad that Charilie’s was caught early enough to put him on antibiotics.

I hope he is feeling better and gets his strength back soon. He’s been through a lot so it probably just takes a little longer.

I’m sending you both my best wishes and prayers.

    Kathryn
