A couple of people have said that their MDS progressed to CMML. Can someone explain this to me, it has been my understanding that CMMoL is a form of MDS/MPF. I know that some put it in it’s own category, but I didn’t think MDS could progress to CMMoL. I am certainly not saying it’s untrue, but it is confusing.

Jack: I think this is old jargon. CMML has been defined as its own disease now, with some myelodysplastic qualities. They use the wrong wrong in saying “progression.” CMML can appear first or later, be slow or fast, etc.

    Hi Jack,
Did they say their MDS progressed to CML or CMML?
Under the FAB system CMML is a category of MDS.
Under the WHO system it is not a MDS classification.
CML would be a separate under either.
