    Hey all,

my dad went into for his Monday check and his platelets were back down to 6,000 and his white cells were up over 50,000. frown Saturday I gave him a wristband from the American Cancer Soc. that says “I Am Strong”. When I was putting it on his wrist he said “What does it say, Life Sucks”? He was seriously joking and I know he is feeling that right now. He is getting a tx. of platelets today and then tomorrow he starts Trisenox for five days. The doc. said something had to be done now and gave him the choice of induction or Trisenox. He chose the lesser of the two evils.

If anyone can give me any info. on Trisenox, I would greatly appreciate it.

You all are in my prayers….

Apparently the Trisenox was not necessarily the lesser of the two evils. The doc. decided at the last minute not to give it to my father. All of our instincts, including my father’s, said NO. The side effects that occurred in greater than 50% of the patients were horrible (seizures, convulsions, congestive heart failure, etc.) and made induction chemo. sound much more feasible. He will go to the doc. for bloodwork & consultation tomorrow….. In the meantime, I’m going to check out that website.

Karen, in your footnotes it says that your father is tx. dependent. Is that for platelets? Seems like my father is for platelets. Can’t keep them up even after a tx.. His count goes up only a little and it doesn’t last a week.

Thanks for your reply; it definitely helped!

    Kat.
