Our Hemoc just called and said the cytogenic tests are back and Alan’s chromosomes are all normal. So now there is a question if Alan even has MDS-RA because of the B12 deficiency which could be the cause of his anemia. Alan’s RBC is 11.8 and he has Hypocellularity 60-70% vs the 50% it should be. Also, Doc said his spleen is slightly enlarged. All of these conditions can be explained as the result of a B12 deficiency. So the next step is to go for a second opinion at City of Hope here in Phoenix which is affiliated with City of Hope in California (Center of Excellence). Doc said they’ll want to do another BMB in a few months to see if the B12 has had any affect before giving a second opinion.

I’d be interested in hearing your opinions on the subject as always since you are such a knowledgable group.

    Thanks
    Chris

I am glad to hear this! Keep us posted and I wish you and Alan all the best. Keep up hope that the next check will prove just as good.

    Blessings,
