I have and have had CMML, which in America is included in MDS (but not in Europe). Recently, I acquired some joint issues (with a high urea count) and a tentative analysis of gout.
A gout web-site suggests a co-morbidity with other diseases, including leukemia (which at least has similar blood count issues to MDS).
Colchicine is a medication (which is not an anti-inflammatory) and has been prescribed for me. A Colchicine web-site suggests that those with low platelets using Colchicine (low level) have a chance of serious side-effects.

Any experience or knowledge?? Thanks HB
