Hi all! I was diagnosed with RA and possible MDS with cytogenetic changes in June. After some CBC changes, my physician wanted another BMB. I received the results on Fri. I have progressed to definite MDS with 5q minus syndrome subtype. I still have not required any transfusions, with Hb at 10.7 now. When they did the cytogenetics, they also tested for a couple of other common chromosomal changes, like del(20q). While the report says that a couple of them are not significantly increased compared to the control, three of them do not actually show 0%, so they ARE present, just not high. The sample shows 28% of the marrow cells show the del(5q). Is that a lot? Does anyone know? I realize these are technical questions, but have to ask. I won’t see the physician for 3 months.
    Thanks, Mags
