We were wondering if anyone could recommend something for her nose bleeds that we could let the doctor know about. There was a spray that somebody had recommended. Thank you for any information.

I have not had the problem, but was told by my ENT doc to spray afrin on a cotton ball and put it in the nose for about 10 minutes. afrin can be very addictive as a constant nasal spray, but good for this purpose.

    Dear Joy,

My husband has a serious problem with nose bleeds. He uses Afrin as well as Nosebeeds QR. When his b/p is elevated, it seems to trigger the nose bleed. Keeping his systolic below 130 (with medication) seems to help prevent and stop the bleeding. Pinching the lower nose area for as long as 15 min. often helps. Keeping the lower nasal passage lubricated with boroleum (a couple of times per day) or certain prescribed nose drops, tend to prevent cracking and injury to the blood vessels. Our doctor prescribed Amicar, which seems to help stop the bleeding at times. When nothing else works, my husband usually requires a platelet transfusion.

Sorry about such a lengthy reply.

    All the best, bety
