The doctors for my dad in UCSF have said that he needs intense chemo first week of january. Everyone is saying that he has not progressed to AML, but they want to move onto the 1week chemo with 3wks in the hospital for recovery. He went for a second opinion at stanford with DR. Greenburg and he concured. I am so confused the last appt. he had they said he did not need a transfusion, so what is the rush for chemo???

    Hi,
My dad also get the treatment in UCSF with Dr. Damon who is a good doctor. Also my dad went to Standoford to get the second opinion with Greenburg who is an very knoweledge doctor as well.
My dad is not MDS or AML. My dad is CLL but he used to have intensive treatment as well. He has to go to UCSF 5 days continous for every month. Dr. Damon said he recover well, instead of 6 months treatment, he only got 3 months. Now he is under control.
    good luck.
