I have been out since Labor day and my counts will not go up on there own I am at WBC 2.6 RBC 8.2 and PTL 20 …today My Dr did a BMB and I will have the results Thursday …. what hope do I have …are there any more treatment options …. Im just looking for something encouraging …. I’m reading what Dennis is going thru with his SCT and I’m running out of Hope ………… sorry for taking everyone down ..I just don’t know what Hope I have …mike

    Mike,

I have two thoughts. First, are you taking care of your body naturally as much as you can? No white flour, not white sugar, lots of organic fresh veggies, organic meats, juicing, etc. All of those things will help to bring your counts back up. Have you ever considered going to the Gerson clinic for treatment? There are 3 clinics using Gerson. One in Mexico, one in Calif. and one in Hawaii. If I remember right you and a caregiver spend two weeks there and they teach you how to take care of and heal your body. Here’s the link: http://www.gerson.org

Second, and I can’t believe this is coming out of my mouth, have they talked to you about another transplant? I have seen several times on different boards where folks have had more then one transplant and the second one did very well. I am really not that hip on transplants because of the drugs – BUT- and that’s a big BUT, if you’re already taking care of your body the best you possibly can then maybe it’s something to consider. Certainly, going into a transplant as healthy as possible does help.

Yes, it’s very discouraging to read of what’s happening with Dennis, but not everyone responds that way.

Those are just my thoughts. I’m sorry I don’t have a magic bullet for you. I only know that my MIL doing all that she has this past two years has made a difference in her body. We can see it’s working because her hgb is steady and not dropping. Her race now is against the clock. We didn’t start her with a naturopath until a year into her dx and that gave the disease time to get a hold.

Whatever you do, make a decision and run with it and don’t look back. That’s the best advice I can give you.

    All the best,

    Patti

    Mike,
Listen to Patti, take care of your body, my Mom did not do that and an infection took her body. I really beleive the dacogen could have worked for her, I only wish we started it before she was tx dependent. They say it takes 3-4 cycles to work. After my Mom’s 2nd she went 10 days with out plt tx, she was going 3x a week. She went in for her third round but was too weak and she got an infection. Are you doing nuepgeon (sp) to help with the WBC? There is a lot of hope out there, my prayers are with you as you make these hard choices.

Mike, Have you had any Aranesp? After my 1st round of Dacogen, I got a 500mcg shot to boost my HGB. It didn’t help the HGB but it didn’t drop any either. The good news is my platelets and WBCs both jumped way up in a week after the Aranesp. Keep up the fight – you are young yet.
Check with as many specialists as you have the resources for – and pray lots. Prayer and best wishes.
