My daughter was recently diagnosed. Dont think she understands the dire seriousness of situation! She will be traveling to New York im may, and texas in aug! When i say too much im just nagging her, but i think she should wear a mask and take hand santizer at least! I personally dont think she should travel at all right now. Thoughts? She does salsa dancing is already being exposed to alot.

A mask does little good. Hand sanitizer is good if used. If high risk with low ANC she should limit exposure and follow doctors orders. I spent 2 months in the hospital with an infection – no fun.

I am low risk and was diagnosed 14 months ago. My counts are near normal and I am “watch and wait”. I did travel overseas in the summer, and wore Curad Anti Viral face masks that I bought in the pharmacy. I also used alot of hand sanitizer. I did not get sick. It depends on her counts, particularly Neutrophils. She should ask her Dr. if it is okay to travel. I was told there is no reason not to travel right now. Best of luck.

I am low risk, diagnosed 2 yrs ago. I have low WBC, think 1.5 ish on avg. Also very low ANC mostly below 500. I wash hands frequently and carry sanitizer at all times. I have flown domestically and bought an ionizer that I wear when flying. So far so good. Infection free with exception of some nuisance skin infections.

    Be cautious and best wishes.
