Andrea SileoParticipant
Hello,
Neupogen generally does not have long term effects. If he is getting labs next week there might not be any change in his counts. Today we spoke to my moms MDS specialist at City of Hope and he said they do not use Neupogen because it can increase blasts and also affect the production of the red blood cells and platelets. If platelets are low, there can be nosebleeds. Is your husband on any kind of chemo? Chemo will decrease the white count and neutrophils during the cycle. It’s very important for your husband to be on preventive antibiotics, antiviral and anti fungal meds with low white counts.
Andrea SileoParticipantHello,
Are you being seen by a doctor at a Center of Excellence?
Reblozyl doesn’t work for everyone. There are other options. Has your doctor discussed chemo treatment with you?
Andrea SileoParticipantHi Patrick,
Thank you for your response. So happy to hear that you have had long term success with Revlimid. My mom currently has 4% blasts and completed her 3rd week of Revlimid today. She started on 10mg, but her levels dropped significantly and her doctor reduced her to 10mg every other day. We are hoping to see the levels start creeping back up.
Best Regards,
Andrea
Andrea SileoParticipantHi Roy,
My mom was diagnosed with MDS 5q del recently. She has been on Revlimid 10mg for two weeks now. Her hemoglobin was 7.9 last week and down to 7.3 this week. How long does it take for the medicine to kick in?
Best Regards
