I was diagnosed with MDS in April 2022. Blasts >10%. Inqovi is the first treatment recommended and I just completed my 4th cycle of 6. Platelet levels have wandered between 90K to 231K, with the last result at 146K. I’d been as low as 60K. Hemoglobin has consistently been rising, from 11.7 to 13.1. I have had minimal side effects, with a teeny bit of nausea at the end of one cycle. In addition, my doctor has moved my Inqovi cycle out to 5-week intervals (up from 4-weeks). And moved blood draws from weekly to every-other week, which I believe to be a positive sign. My general health seems to be good, other than weakness and low stamina, which I understand, is part of the deal with MDS. We are planning a BMB after the 6th round is complete.
However, my stem cell transplant has been delayed because I have no 10/10 match – worldwide! That just blows my little mind! How common is it that? They’re now looking for a 9/10 or 8/10 match. But that’s another discussion topic.
I have, so far, had a positive experience with Inqovi. If one must fight this disease, I believe Inqovi is currently the best way. So much better than IV chemo! But each person has a different story, it seems. For me, Inqovi seems to be doing its intended job.
All the very best to ya’ll for comfort, peace and remission!
