Good article…came out in the Spring. Thanks for posting.

Lynn: Lung problems may be implicated in MDS IF there is little or no stem cell production, ’cause the stem cells from the lungs CAN, it appears, repopulate bone marrow.

Quote from article …”The observation that blood stem cells and progenitors seem to travel back and forth freely between the lung and bone marrow lends support to a growing sense among researchers that stem cells may be much more active than previously appreciated, Looney said. “We’re seeing more and more that the stem cells that produce the blood don’t just live in one place but travel around through the blood stream. Perhaps ‘studying abroad’ in different organs is a normal part of stem cell education.”

    Greetings Sylvia,

Have been on Procrit since June with my one and only rbc transfusion that month. Two months of platelet transfusions but not this month 😀 perhaps the Vidaza is working ;).

    Hi Anna,

I’m a newbie here, dx’ed in the spring time and have had 3 rounds of Vidaza. Though only 68 not a transplant candidate for the extensive chemo, non-hodgkins lymphoma, since 1998.

Will see if it works, doc says to give it 6 months at least. Easy peasy chemo it is though a ain with the weekly blood draws. I’ve a port, would recommend. which saves veins for blood draws.

You best talk to his doc about the natural course of the disease, imho.

    Regards, dj

Diagnosed (dx) in June of this year with MDS high risk. Only 67, 68 in Nov., and this is the result of much chemo for follicular-NHL plus an auto-Stem Cell Transplant in ’09.

Have had 1 rbc and 2 platelet transfusions and last week was 3rd round of Vidaza. Drug is very easy to cope with, common problems only. Port helps, injections never discussed TH.

Cannabis oil should have THC in it to work

Work how? Prescribed Marinol during auto-transplant in ’09. Don’t remember if it was for pain or nausea/vomiting. Only made me more lethargic & I stopped taking it.

Found this reputable site for information: https://www.nap.edu/read/24625/chapter/2#7

LAnn Don’t know what claims are made for Cannabis oil and wonder in what ways u believe it might help?

Going though the same path options weighing. I’m almost a decade younger and don’t feel bad after 3 rounds of Vidaza. The first one was the worst but only with appetite suppression and extreme tiredness.
