I am a transfusion dependent MDS patient. I am having no treatment except red blood cell and platelet transfusions approximately every week to ten days. I have on 2 or 3 occasions had severe bouts of chills following the platelet transfusions, these settle down after I have had a good sleep. However they are very distressing and I feel for your parents. MDS is so different for each patient, and we all seem to get differing treatments depending on where we are, who our consultants are and which of the many variants of the disease we are suffering from.

I have had the dizzy spells due to my very low haemoglobin level, but not for as long as yours.Nor do I get the headaches. Maybe you could talk to your GP and get a general check up, it may be due to a blood pressure issue.
