Dear friends,
The initial HLA match shows that I have a good match with my eldest sister (who was diagnosed with MDS last month) but my elder sister does not (she is also in China now). I just called my eldest sister and she was very excited.
I will go back to China soon to have some further tests and if everything works, the SCT probably will be in a month.
Thanks all the friends here for encouragement. I will let you know further news.

How wonderful that you received such good news!
I am very happy to hear you’re a match for your sister. You will be giving her the best possible gift there is – the gift of life.
My hopes for everything to go well will be with you and your family.Judy
April 21, 2006 at 8:58 am #12652QQMemberThanks Judy.
I will go to China in three days and my sister is very excited these days. She believes in that she will be cured with SCT. I know that it is still a long-time difficult process and all of us will try our best.
I also learnt yesterday that mine actually is not a perfect match, but the doctor thought that it is acceptable and it is better to do SCT ASAP. We will discuss further after more tests.

April 25, 2006 at 4:16 pm #12655QQMemberDear friends,
Thanks for all of you. I came back to China two days ago and had done the blood test in the morning of the next day. Finally I could access internet several hours ago.
My sister’s situation is not very good these several days. She had a fever and also had difficulty breathing in the evening. Her white cell is only 1.1 today and 0.9 yesterday. My brother-in-law and I will probably talk to the doctor on how should we go on the next step. I also got sister’s old medical records and probably ask for some suggestions later in this forum.
Mom did not realize the seriousness of MDS. I told Mom that I want my sister live longer even if I would live shorter. I will try my best. We could not lose my sister, especially her young daughter.

i will be back to china(beijing) on may 7th, if you need any help, let me know.
i usually see a herbal doctor in China Academy of Chinese Medicine Sciences(http://www.cintcm.ac.cn/catcm/yz/e_catcm.htm).
i cannot say it help me or not, but it doesn’t do any bad thing either…

My husaband was dx with RARS on 01/06, no reponse to Procrit and transfusion 2 units every 5 weeks. I am interested in any natural vitamins or herbs but I do not know where to start. We live in Ft. Transfusions 2 units/5 weeks,April 25, 2006 at 10:21 pm #12661pattiMemberGloria,
Look up integrative medicine practioners or cancer naturapath specialists on the web or phone book to see about finding someone. If you can’t find anyone let me know and I can send some information about a doctor your way. Mom and I flew by the seat of our pants for over 9mos. and it really was better when we found a good naturapath.
Let me know if you need help finding a practioner.
Best wishes,
patti

i knew there are several kinds of herbal doctor in American — Chinese, Indians, and Maxician. i have been seen chinese doctors, but i really cannot say it help me, but they do have records show me that they did help some patients. And i think some MDS medicine is really from the Chinese Herbal(i forget the name.).
if you want to find a Chinese herbal doctors, just stop by any China-Town, and ask someone in there, but you may have have to find the reputation from the local Chinese or someone you knew.
i stop seeing the chinese doctor in DC, since i don’t think it help me. and i just get some medication from China during my trip back. it does make me feel better but not help me yet.
but they continue saying “you have to give a time”…
it really didn’t do any bad things on me, so i still use it.
FRank.

I am glad to see you posting again. I’ve thought about you a lot. I’m so glad you have your girls with you again!
I wanted to tell you that my MIL has been using chinese medicine now for several months and she is seeing such an improvement! Her transfusions were two weeks apart for more than a year. After she started the chinese herbs she went three weeks between the last one and this one is looking like we may get four weeks from it. Still have a week to go before we’ll know but it’s looking good. We are so impressed with this guy. If nothing else, he’s improved mom’s quality of life. If you’re interested in emailing him or talking to him on the phone let me know. He’s very good.
Take good care.
