Marsha…I’m so glad to hear from you!
We’re leaving to go to Durham,NC for a BMT. He’ll have to stay there for 4 months or so. We just can’t wait for this to be over with so we’ll know what recovery is like. Your posting is very helpful. I’m glad to hear you think it’s worth it. Take care of yourself!

My friend is 65 and has CMML. He has taken Vidaza shots since July ’04. The doctor at Duke in Durham,NC told him the Vidaza shots just bought him some time and the only cure is a bone marrow transplant. We’re beginning the chemotherapy next week that you take before the transplant. He has a younger brother that is a perfect match.

My friend gets very weak, pale and naps a lot during Vidaza shots and almost a whole week after. Just as he seems to be slowly pulling out of this slump, it’s time to get shots again.

Pam…I completely agree! I’ve had so many questions answered by just reading this forum every day. I’ve learned much more this way than any other.

Pam…my friend takes Vidaza. He has to take the nausea pill before and after the shots and it works very well. The shots do seem to increase the fatigue but when the shots are over that is back to normal.
