I will stick with what I said …. you are coming way too close to practicing medicine and are a danger to those who would try some of your methods without checking with their doctors … I never said CLO doesn’t work … I said to check with the doctor first … You are so hypocritical Patti … anti-MD, pro-naturapathic, but did the eminent Dr. Kou prescribe the toxic drug Neupogen and toxic blood transfusions for your MIL? … I would guess not …

Once again, I will say that you have some good ideas … just quit giving dosing instructions and tell people to check your suggestions out with their doctors … you forget how vulnerable people on this forum are … they are grasping for straws … you cannot assume (as you said) that people will go check your suggestions with their doctors …if you remind then to go see their own doctors then you will have no trouble with me and the dozen or so people who wrote me to tell me how much they agreed with me … Remember, that behind your back, this is referred to as “Patti’s bad advice forum” and I am working to change that because I do think you have merit in this forum. (By the way, that was not a term I used, but one that 2 other people used in private e-mails to me).

I would hope that this ends this discussion and hope that your combination of ntural and traditional medicines works for your MIL and that she lives a long time with her MDS.

    Taffy …

I forgot one more thing. If your aunt is using Exjade for iron overload, she CANNOT swallow Maalox because it has aluminium in it and is specifically prohibited by Exjade’s manufacturer.

Folks, I know I am being prickly about this. But until Patti produces a medical degree and knows the patient’s history and details of their medical care, then her dosing advice could be potentially life threatening. I, for one, and I know many others are too, am very concerned about the ramifications of her dosing advice.

In this case, if she had said, “ask YOUR doctor about using Maalox and Benadryl to relieve the pain of mouth sores as my MIL does”, I would have had no problem with it.

    Taffy …

Once again, Patti is dispensing medical advice. Please Google Benadryl and look at the side effects and drug interactions and who should NOT take Benadryl. I believe Patti is correct when she advises spitting it out, but wrong to advise you to have your aunt swallow it without checking with your doctor. Just wanting you to be safe.

Here is just a little advice I found.

Do not take diphenhydramine and pseudoephedrine if you have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate) in the last 14 days. A very dangerous drug interaction could occur, leading to serious side effects.
    • Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have
    · kidney or liver disease,
    · diabetes,
    · glaucoma,
    · any type of heart disease or high blood pressure,
    · thyroid disease,
    · emphysema or chronic bronchitis, or
    · difficulty urinating or an enlarged prostate.

If you swallow the Benadryl, you are taking it and must be careful.

    Jack Daniels, Canadian Club ???

The liver issue may well be true, I do not have liver problems. But the drowsiness wears off for me within an hour. Hmmmm… be sure to get that Ativan then. Good luck …

There you go again Patti … giving medical advice without knowing ALL of Gary’s medical conditions … If cod liver oil is an anti-inflamatory as you say, then if I took it it could kill me. I do not object one bit to YOUR natural remedy lifestyle … I object vehemently when you dispense medical advice without being a doctor and knowing all of the patient’s history. For example, if I took as much vitamin K as you recommend I would probably clot up and have a heart attack or a stroke. Please recommend to people that they pursue remedies with the doctor of their choice … natural or traditional … but quit giving advice on this forum …. You must realize how fragile “newbies” are and they will grasp at any straw and it could lead to tragic errors.

OMG about the truth serum …LOL!! And if someone wants to date rape me, well … just kidding … it is a shame you cannot get anyone to take you … Carl and I know what a pleasant procedure a BMB can be with the right drugs. For me, for example, 10mg of Ativan does NOTHING but irritate me that it is not doing more … good luck …

    Y’all …

For those of you who can get it, try Versed … it works wonders … that is what they use at the Fred Hutchinson Center in Seattle … I have had ntohing, had Ativan, and had Versed and I will never allow them to do one again without Versed.
    Just a thought …

    Terri …

I saw my docs at The Cleveland Clinic last week and discussed flu shots with them. They had no stake in it since I would get the shot here in Columbus. Their opinion was whether I felt that I would be better of with the shot of dead flu vaccine or the full-blown flu. In their opinion, unless a person was allergic to chicken or eggs, the shot was harmless and the flu could be potentailly fatal. A no-brainer for me. Two cents worth.

    Patti …

You ought to get your story straight. YOU said, “Dr.Kou took her off of all foods that have blood thinning properties because her platelets are running between 2K and 4K before she gets a platelet tx. She’s not real thrilled as she uses lots of onions but she also knows it’s important she take care of herself”. I take your quote, “she uses lots of onions” and you now say the the eminent Dr. Kou took her off onions this week because her platelets were running 2 to 4K. Are you asking us to believe that she dropped precipitously from over 50K when she would be allowed to eat onions (or garlic) to just 4K? Give me a break !!

    Patti …

2 more things … First, you wrote, “… if someone is asking me for advice on using a food to help their body I’m going to error on the side of caution”. Your credentials for giving medical advice are??

Second, your medical advice is to not eat onions unless your platelets are over 50K but you allow your MIL to eat them with a platelet count between 2 and 4K? Is that taking care of herself? Just wondering.

Just a question … you mentioned Motrin … because of my platelet issues, they have told me to only use Tylenol … no Advil, Motrin, Aleve, Excedrin, etc .. it might be worth a question to your doc …
