hello all, I have been reading some of the posts and since my aunt has Chronic leukemia and AML i feel like she is not real lucky at this point. she is in a type of remission right now but has to stay on the Vidaza im assuming because it (leukemia)would be back.i worry that if she gets a cold she will be in trouble. She weighs about 94lbs. and is 80 yrs. old. For some reason she also cant see much.I go to her house every night after i get off work to read her mail. She says she knows that this remission is only temp. but i thought she would be happy but shes not. Her quality of life is not good. I wonder if something else will take her before the Vidaza effects her organs and etc, and shes very worried about getting the flu. I would like to hear some of the cons of Vidaza so i could maybe see the signs of something going on with her to compare. Thanks so much

Hello, Today i am more savy to what is going on with my aunt but she is not having a very good time of it. she has more treatments the first part of the month, but she can hardly see. I dont know if this is a typical sign for these propblems or if her Lichens Planus is in her eyes. She goes to an eye spec. next week .She has lost 2 more lbs. which puts her at about 96 97. Have you noticed wieght loss being a part of this treatment process or is it the leukemia. My other Aunt says that the doctor never really says much to her. Thanks …

Thanks so much Russ. I am taking care of my aunt and i feel alittle stupid She has awful sores in her mouth and i think the Vidaza affects that she has (Lichens Plantas SP ). a disease that affects the skin bad breakouts sores because of low immune system. Right now she also has problems with her eyes, she can hardly see. She also has fallen and broke her arm and was told she could not have any surgery. She has went from 106 to 98lbs. in the last 2 wks. Should i say something or is this the way this problem takes control?? I really appreciate your reply

Hello I am new to this but i cant seem to get any answers anywhere. My aunt has Leukemia (Chronic and AML) She is 80 yr old and is not in good health at this time. She is at the end of another vidaza treatment. What is the difference of MDS and what she has? The doctor says the treatments are what is keeping her alive right now but he doesnt know for how long.
